Benchmark Landscape has been Awarded the Landscape Renovation at SeaWorld's Main Gate Area
To be transformed into an interactive “Explorer’s Reef” that brings entertainment right to the front door. The new entry will replace the 1985 turnstiles and give park goers the illusion of being swept beneath ocean waves and into an underwater world.
This project requires skillful handling of dozens of extremely large specimen trees and palms as well as hundreds of various species of container plants. The specimen trees will be boxed up, maintained and stored on site, and later replanted throughout the newly designed area. The 3-acre “reef” will also house touch pools filled with thousands of fish in addition to dining and retail outlets. Local landscape architect KTU + A is involved along with PGAV from St. Louis, MO. The general contractor is PCL Construction Services, Inc. The landscape portion of the project is valued at over $1M.
This SeaWorld project will be completed and revealed in the spring of 2014.
