San Diego Zoo Enhancements
Over the years, Benchmark has been involved in several unique landscape projects for the San Diego Zoo. The most recent project, expanding the Koala exhibit, is currently in the works and being overseen by Benchmark’s Jeff Janczylik. This will provide two additional enclosure areas for the Koalas with the installation of Keystone block walls, along with tree relocations.
Past Exhibit Enhancements Include:
Elephant Odyssey – Installed decomposed granite, renovated plants, and installed large Acacia on top of Utilitrees
Tiger River – Installed landscape timbers, graded the area, and removed bamboo
Sun Bear Enclosure – Installed Keystone walls and planters
Meerkat Enclosure – Installed Keystone walls and replenished soil
Panda Canyon – Brush removal
Kopje Enclosure – Soil redistribution and landings
Koala Trail – Installed gravel
Benchmark’s projects at the Zoo showcase the company’s versatility in landscape renovation and enhancement. Each work order requires a unique plan and approach, and allows Benchmark to continue setting the standard in landscape maintenance, installation, and enhancement.
