Solve, Don’t Sell
At Benchmark, we recognize that every property and client that we encounter in the landscape industry is different. Each comes with its own set of preferences and challenges. The goals of our clients are also a determining factor when preparing a proposal for maintenance or a new installation. Some properties need enhancements to improve functionality or water efficiency while others need beautifying or color additions. Our focus as a commercial contractor and what sets us apart from competitors, is to solve our client’s issues and needs rather than selling a service that may not truly be needed.
The first step in developing a customized maintenance plan is an in-depth site assessment. Knowing your properties specific requirements and goals is essential in developing a successful maintenance program. As part of this assessment, our team will inspect irrigation systems, identify any potential drainage concerns, and inspect the condition of trees, planters, and turf areas. From here, we can accurately determine where improvements can be made given the budget provided by the client – including plant types, irrigation improvements, plant growth rates, plant coverage, etc. In addition, after a maintenance program is initiated, monthly property walks with managers ensures the property’s program is meeting the needs outlined in the initial agreement and helps keep an open line of communication between contractor and client. The property’s needs often shift, with seasonal / climate changes or drought conditions, and landscape programs should be modified accordingly.
With water restrictions and drought being a major concern for most commercial properties, San Diego offers incentives for enhancements, such as installing a new Smart controller for irrigation. Unfortunately, this alone may not actually solve the issue of water waste. Depending on your property, it may be more effective to check and replace irrigation hardware – like sprinkler nozzles, heads, valves, or pressure regulators – and working back to the irrigation controller. This can improve water distribution, coverage, and possibly water pressure concerns.
Getting a professional site evaluation is key to understanding how you can improve your property’s overall landscape, as well as choosing a commercial contractor that understands your property needs a customized approach. Our goal is a satisfied customer, whether your objective is to improve the overall beauty of your property, increase water efficiency, or improve functionality.
