Benchmark Landscape Uses Best Management Practices to Combat Storm Water Pollution

December 16, 2011 Landscape News No Comments

As a San Diego County based company, Benchmark Landscape believes in protecting the environment – especially our lakes, bays and the ocean.   Unfortunately, many people forget that storm water drains are strictly for storm water and any pollution in these drains is a critical problem.

Storm water pollution occurs when debris and toxic chemicals including oil, grease and pesticides are poured or allowed to run off into storm drains.  Storm drains are not connected to sewers and these pollutants end up in our local lakes, bays and the ocean hurting fish, wildlife and the environment.

Benchmark Landscape believes in following the best environmental practices in all of our installations. That’s why much of our staff attends yearly storm water pollution prevention training and we meet or exceed best management practices on all of our projects to prevent pollutants from entering storm water drains. This is just one of the ways we work to ensure that San Diego County’s lakes, bays and the ocean remain free of harmful pollutants.

Additionally, we employ qualified staff that understands all aspects of San Diego landscaping. Benchmark Landscape employs several ornamental/environmental science graduates from Cal Poly as well as more than 25 certified landscape technicians that specialize in landscape maintenance, landscape installation/construction and irrigation.
