Our Landscape Renovation Team recently completed the redesign of a large atrium area for Palomar Medical Hospital in Escondido.

Jaclyn Salts, landscape designer for Benchmark, was instrumental in the design and execution of the atrium renovation, along with Chris Garcia, Juan Gutierrez, and foreman Mario Chavez. The project presented a unique set of challenges for Benchmark including transporting most of the plant materials in via crane (shown below), following infectious disease protocols, and working offset hours – 1am to 12 noon – for 2 days to minimize the impact on the hospital during its busiest hours.

A rededication ceremony was held in honor of the project’s donors on Friday, October 21st which was attended by faculty, directors, foundation members, nurses, doctors, and donors.
