Rain, Rain…Here to Stay?
Did your property’s landscape survive the wet winter? It’s expected that El Nino will continue to soak San Diego and Southern California through spring, and while the much-needed rain isn’t predicted to significantly impact the on-going drought, the implication on landscape could be devastating, if you’re not prepared.
Because even an inch of rainfall in an hour could cause flooding and damage, it’s important that your landscape contractor is ready and able to handle the downpours.
Benchmark has been proactive in planning for El Nino by thoroughly inspecting all aspects of your properties. Due to drought conditions, drain lines may have accumulated build-up over time from inactivity. It’s important for these lines to be clear and have positive flow during rainfall, so flooding is less likely to occur on the property. Another concern is erosion. We’ve been working to identify any areas of concern and offering remedies like the addition of straw wattles or various types of matting on slopes. Inlet areas could benefit from sand or gravel bags to the prevent obstruction of water entry points and brow ditches on slopes should be clear of debris.
