How to Freshen Up Your Landscape this Summer

How to Freshen Up Your Landscape this Summer

How to Freshen Up Your Landscape this Summer

Jun 5, 2017 | Landscape News |

Your property’s landscape is often a reflection of your brand to clients, employees, property owners, homeowners, and/or tenants, it’s one of the most significant changes you can make that adds immediate value to your business or community.

Here are some ways you can freshen up your property’s landscaping, improve functionality, and create a beautiful, welcoming environment:

1. Incorporate Low-Maintenance Plants

Drought-tolerant plants are mutually beneficial to both businesses and their clients. Businesses save money on water usage and cut down on long-term landscape maintenance costs without sacrificing visual appeal (or color!). If your site is appropriate, the use of native plants is also a very low-maintenance option that saves water, lowers maintenance costs and enhances the overall natural element of an environment.

2. Fix Irrigation Issues

Irrigation systems should be re-inspected with the change of seasons to be sure systems are functioning properly and plants are getting the water they need to thrive while reducing water waste. For older systems, you may want to evaluate the long-term savings and benefits of upgrading your irrigation. Drip irrigation is a popular choice that ensures plants get water when and where needed without excess.

3. Eliminate Safety Hazards

While we’ve enjoyed the lush and colorful hillsides in San Diego from all the Winter rain, these areas pose serious safety risks if left unattended throughout warmer months. Overgrown brush is a fire hazard and requires professional clean-up. Benchmark works directly with the city to ensure regulations are being met.

4. Improve Functionality

Landscaping should be more than just beautiful; a successful landscape design adds value to your property by increasing its functionality. Consider renovations that improve plant placement and create usable spaces.
